‘Het is wat wij ervan maken en ermee doen’ vormt de kern van mijn artistieke visie. Als mixed-media kunstenaar — ook bekend als #Trash_Healer — zoek ik voortdurend naar speelse en spontane manieren om een breed publiek te prikkelen rondom maatschappelijke thema’s.
Ik creëer kunstwerken op uitnodiging voor tentoonstellingen, maar mijn favoriete werkterrein is de openbare ruimte. Daar maak ik straatpoëzie op ramen en gevels en plaats ik gele verkeersborden met teksten die een dialoog aangaan met hun omgeving. Mijn werk daagt voorbijgangers uit om hun emoties, gedachten en aannames te bevragen.
In Amsterdam werk ik aan mijn groeiende collectie Trash-sculpturen, ontstaan onder het motto “Your Trash is My Treasure”. Sinds 2020 maak ik deze sculpturen op straat met afgedankte spullen en materialen die ik vind bij afvalplaatsen. Inmiddels heb ik bijna honderd tijdelijke trash-kunstwerken gerealiseerd, waarbij de straten van Amsterdam functioneren als mijn atelier. Rondom deze sculpturen ontstaat een collectie van foto’s, video’s, performances en columns waarin bijzondere ontmoetingen worden vastgelegd.
Elke Trash-sculptuur vertelt een uniek verhaal dat nauw verbonden is met haar omgeving. Ze zijn associatief, uitdagend en dragen vaak een speels-kritische boodschap. Gezamenlijk reageren deze werken op de consumptiemaatschappij en nodigen ze uit tot reflectie — over waarde, afval, aandacht en de betekenis die we zelf toekennen aan de wereld om ons heen.

“The meaning lies in what we make of things and how we engage with them” forms the core of my artistic vision. As a mixed-media artist — also known as #Trash_Healer — I continuously search for playful and spontaneous ways to engage a broad audience with social themes.
I create artworks for exhibitions, but my favourite working environment is the public space. There, I make street poetry on windows and facades and place yellow traffic signs with text that enters into dialogue with its surroundings, inviting passersby to question their emotions, thoughts and assumptions.
In Amsterdam, I work on my growing collection of Trash sculptures, created under the motto “Your Trash is My Treasure.” Since 2020, I have been making these works in the streets using discarded objects and materials found at waste collection points. I have now realised almost one hundred temporary trash artworks, with the streets of Amsterdam serving as my studio. Around these sculptures, a collection of photos, videos, performances and written columns emerges, capturing the encounters that arise around them.
Each Trash sculpture tells a unique story closely connected to its environment. The works are associative, challenging and often carry a playful yet critical message. Together, they respond to our consumer society and invite reflection—on value, waste, attention, and the meaning we choose to give to the world around us.
