WE ARE not alONE – Rohn Rennon & Roko Rono, geplaatst op het Zuidplein/Zuidas toont twee robots met menselijke kenmerken die lijken op Yoko Ono en John Lennon. Deze robots proberen nieuw leven te blazen in hun boodschap van vrede uit 1969. De boodschap is paradoxaal, zowel verontrustend als geruststellend. Hebben we robots nodig om de uitdagingen van de wereld aan te gaan, of maken ze mensen overbodig? WE ARE not alONE herinnert ons eraan dat we deze problemen gezamenlijk moeten aanpakken.

Op het Zuidplein is samen met Rohn & Roko ook het project SINGS te ervaren. Achttien gele verkeersborden met teksten die reflecteren op de persoonlijke gemoedstoestand in relatie tot de omgeving. Teksten als Hier begint het avontuur, Ritme verstoord of Hulp helpt zoeken de interactie met voorbijgangers en gebruikers op het drukke business/WTC plein op de Zuidas. De borden reageren ook op elkaar en zijn als een spiritueel pad te bewandelen. Naar aanleiding van ArtZuid werd SIGNS in De Volkskrant tot kunstwerk van de week benoemd.

WE ARE not alONE – Rohn Rennon & Roko Rono, installed at Zuidplein/Zuidas, features two humanoid robots resembling Yoko Ono and John Lennon. These robots aim to revive the iconic 1969 message of peace. The message is paradoxical—both unsettling and comforting. Do we need robots to confront the world’s challenges, or do they render humans obsolete? WE ARE not alONE reminds us that we must face these issues together.

Also on view at Zuidplein is the project SIGNS, presented alongside Rohn & Roko. Eighteen yellow traffic signs display texts that reflect on the personal state of mind in relation to the surrounding environment. Messages such as Here begins the adventure, Rhythm disturbed, or Help helps invite interaction with passersby and daily users of this busy business/WTC square in the Zuidas district. The signs also engage in a dialogue with each other, forming a kind of spiritual path that can be walked. In response to ARTZUID, SIGNS was named artwork of the week by De Volkskrant.
